Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching
Students in the Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching program will add pedagogical and technological skills to their existing content knowledge within a model online learning environment and emerge prepared to design, develop, deliver, and sustain online learning in education, business, or industry. Many of our students add this certificate to an existing Master's or doctoral program.

Application Deadline: July 15th
Early applications will be reviewed regularly throughout the year, but all admissions will be effective fall semester.
Minimum Background Requirements
GPA >3.0 in a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
Documents Required to be Submitted for Admission Review
- Statement of Professional Goals (The admission committee looks for writing ability and a fit between your goals and the program)
- One letter of recommendation providing information related to past academic ability, potential for graduate study, and writing ability.

How to Make Sure You Get Your Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching
For those of you enrolled in or interested in the Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching, make sure you follow all the steps necessary to actually get your certificate. You do not automatically get the certificate just because you complete the coursework. There is a sequence of online paperwork you need to complete to make it happen.
Apply for Admission
You must apply for admission with the Graduate College, even if you are already admitted in another graduate program at the same time. You will need one letter of recommendation. See more information here: https://edtech.okstate.edu/gradcert. (Also click on the Advisement Checklist link in the first paragraph.)
Complete the Plan of Study
In your first semester of certificate coursework, go to https://gradcollege.okstate.edu/planofstudy and submit a Plan of Study for only the 12 certificate courses. You will be asked to list your advisor but will not need to list committee members.
Complete the Graduation Clearance Form
In your last semester of certificate coursework, go to the Plan of Study login and complete the Graduation Clearance form for the certificate.
Apply for Your Certificate
Once your advisor signs off on the Graduate Clearance Form you can apply for your certificate by following the steps below.
- Go online to Banner at my.okstate.edu
- Once you have logged into your Banner system, please select the “Self-Service” icon
- Go to "Student" tab on Banner
- Click on "Student Records" link
- Click on "Apply for Graduation" and follow the prompts for the multiple graduation screens
