Michelle Bowie bio

Michelle Bowie earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degrees from Southern Nazarene University. She is pursuing a PhD in Education Technology from Oklahoma State University. Michelle is an Assistant Professor at Southern Nazarene University and has worked full time in higher education for over decade.  She has served as the Instructional Technologist and Moodle Administrator for SNU since 2007. She has been developing and teaching both online and face to face courses in SNU’s English Department since 2000. Michelle’s favorite courses are African American Literature and Literary Field Studies courses, which give her the opportunity to read and travel with students.

Working with university students and being a heavy user of social media herself, Michelle has become very interested in exploring how students develop and mediate their online identities. Additionally, her research interests include Digital Literacy, New Media and online community building using hashtags.
